Bedded by the Wrong Brother
Lucas Hart was incapable, so he had his identical twin brother take his place in the bedroom.
I pretended to know nothing, surrendering to passion with Alexander.
The next morning, right in front of Lucas, I praised,
You were amazing last night! Ive never felt so satisfied before!
Lucass face turned deathly pale. His expression was icy and solemn, laced with despair and a flicker of hope,
"So do you prefer me in bed, or me like this now?"
I coyly wrapped my arms around his arm.
"Off the bed, I love your gentle side. On the bed I love you being wild"
"Alexander, Amelia made this herself. Try it!"
At the dinner table, Lucas pushed a bowl of broth towards his brother who had just returned from abroad.
I instantly glanced up at Alexander across the table.
He wore a tailored black business suit. His features looked strikingly handsome under the crystal chandelier in the living room.
His lips were pressed into a thin line, his dark eyes inscrutable.
The scene was familiar. I realized I had been reborn.
...
In my previous life, Lucas, pathetically incapable, drugged his older brother to make him take his place in bed with me. I didnt know.
Lucas wanted me pregnant, so he could use the child to secure more of the Hart family inheritance from the patriarch.
And after he successfully obtained 60% of Hart Industries' shares thanks to my pregnancy, he locked me in the basement, subjecting me to daily torture.
I never understood why, until Chloe, his mistress, threw sulfuric acid in my face.
I learned from her that the child was Alexanders. Lucas saw me and the child as a disgrace.
Eventually, I set fire to the basement, trapping Lucas and his mistress inside.
All of us perished in the flames.
...
"Alex, hurry up and eat. Dont let Amelias effort go to waste."
Lucass voice urged beside me.
A wave of nausea washed over me.
I had made the broth for him, yet he presented it to his brother like a gift.
In my previous life, Id mistaken it for brotherly affection. Now, I saw it as part of his scheme.
"Is that so?" Alexanders deep gaze flickered to me.
"Amelia made it herself? Then I certainly cant refuse."
He picked up the spoon, ready to eat.
I remembered Alexanders desperate charge into the burning basement in my past life.
He had scooped me up, shouting,
"Amelia! Hold on! Im getting you out!"
But the fire was too fierce. No one made it out.
In our final moments, Alexander held me tight.
He pressed his cheek against mine, whispering his confession,
"Amelia I love you."
So, this time, unlike before, I didnt tug on Lucass sleeve. Instead, I said gently and considerately to Alexander,
"If you like it, Alex, theres more in the pot!"
Both Lucas and Alexander looked sharply at me.
Especially Lucas.
A strange expression flashed across his face, but he pressed his lips together and said nothing.
Late that night, walking past the study after my shower, a sliver of soft white light spilled from under the door.
Chloe, Lucass childhood sweetheart, sat perched on his desk, playing with his tie.
"Lucas, are you really going to let your brother sleep with Amelia?"
"I remember you making such a grand fuss chasing her. How could you give her up so soon?"
Lucas grabbed Chloes waist and planted a kiss on her crimson lips.
"Honestly, Alex overshadows me at every turn. I have to win Grandpas affection over him with a kid."
"Besides, Ive tasted Amelia. Shes fine, nothing compared to you, honey."
"Youre spicy, Chloe. You know how to let loose."
Laughter followed as they kissed passionately, tangled together.
I clenched my fists in fury.
But I knew confronting him now would be like an egg hitting a rock.
The Harts were one of Ashford Citys most powerful families. I was just a broke college junior.
Lucas could crush me like an ant.
My previous life had proven that.
Trapped, Id tried countless times to escape, even called the police, only to be sent back every time.
So, I pressed myself against the wall and tiptoed back to the bedroom.
Lucas knew I was showering, yet he fooled around with Chloe in his study.
It proved he never truly considered me his girlfriend.
The agony of the flames from that past life seemed to sear me again.
Hatred churned violently within me.
I dried my hair, curled up on my side in bed, clutching the sheets, my eyes burning with fierce determination.
Much later, hurried footsteps echoed in the hallway.
"Whoa, whoa, Alex, wrong door! Its this one!"
Lucass voice slurred slightly as he steered Alexander towards my room.
Seeing my form curled under the covers and the empty glass on the nightstand, Lucass eyes gleamed with triumph.
"Alex, this is your room. Get some rest."
The mattress dipped beside me. The clean scent of cedar filled the air.
Lucas backed out, carefully closing the door behind him.
But the next moment, Alexander abruptly sat bolt upright beside me. He stared fixedly at the ceiling.
How could he be unaffected? Lucas must have drugged that bowl of broth.
Pretending to be roused, I sat up too, rubbing my eyes sleepily.
"Lucas? What took you so long?"
Alexander turned his head. Moonlight from the window illuminated his expression.
Cold. Hard. Complex.
I immediately leaned in and wrapped my arms around him.
"Lucas, I was so scared without you. I had a nightmare!"
The man I held stiffened, but didnt push me away.
I watched his face carefully, confirming he truly was unaffected.
So, he played along with Lucass charade because he was already in love with me?
I remembered he rushing into the fire at the end of my last life.
I decided to cling to his affection on me, forging a path to survival.
I leaned in and kissed the corner of his mouth.
"Lucas I want you"
Alexanders eyes widened. He gripped my chin, forcing me to meet his gaze, his voice low and rough.
"What did you call me?"
I widened my eyes innocently.
" Lucas?"
He seemed unsatisfied.
"Call me honey."
I hesitated. He leaned in and nipped my lower lip.
"Be good," he coaxed, his voice husky. "Call me honey, and Ill give you what you want."
My face flushed. I obeyed softly.
"Honey"
Boom. The fire ignited.
Alexander kissed me fiercely, his hands gripping my waist as he pushed me down onto the bed.
His kisses were urgent, almost punishing.
His large hand tore open the buttons of my pajama top, trailing up from the soft curve of my waist...
Alexander had just returned from overseas. Wed barely met before.
I didnt know why hed fallen for me in both lifetime, but seeing him unaffected by the drugged broth
I realized the plot was already diverging significantly from before.
Could he be reborn too?
Just as this thought struck, Alexander reached his limit.
Veins bulged on his forehead, his eyes bloodshot, yet he wrestled for a shred of clarity.
Gritting his teeth, he gasped,
"Amelia actually, I am"
Now I was certain. He was reborn.
Good. That made my revenge easier.
Cutting him off, I looped my arms around his neck and kissed him deeply.
The last trace of resistance vanished from Alexanders eyes. He responded with fervent, possessive hunger.
Once. Twice. Again and again
The last round was against the tiled wall of the shower.
He held my hips. I wrapped my legs around his waist.
He teased me, deliberately refusing to enter.
Frustrated, I bit down gently on his prominent Adams apple.
"Hurry up"
Alexander chuckled darkly, his large hand cradling the back of my head.
"Say it again."
"Hurry up, Lucas"
"Wrong!"
He punished me with a sharp thrust.
"Ah" I gasped, shuddering.
"Honey." He captured my earlobe, his voice a deep, magnetic rumble.
I bit my knuckle, whimpering. "Honey Honey Honey"
I called out three times. Alexander surged forward, utterly losing control.
I was maneuvered by him like a fish gasping on shore, struggling to breathe.
When I woke, dawn hadnt broken. The space beside me was empty.
I pulled on my robe and crept out.
The study light was on.
I pressed against the wall, peeking through the crack.
Alexander lounged casually on the sofa in the sitting area. Lucas stood before him, visibly furious.
"Alex! How could you go to the wrong room?!"
"Dont you know Amelia is the woman I love most?!"
Alexander crossed his legs, lit a cigarette, and tilted his head.
"Honestly? No."
"Didnt you just crawl out of Chloes bed in the guest suite?"
Lucas lunged. "That was that was Chloe seducing me!"
Alexander scoffed, "Well, the mistake is made. What do you want to do about it?"
Lucas glanced at Alexanders face, his attitude shifting.
"Look, Amelias just a woman. Not that big a deal. If you like her, Alex, you can keep her company for a while."
"But you know, Ive been handling the Bayview Project. But Grandpa handed it straight to you when you got back. Id really like to keep managing it."
Alexander smiled, as if expecting this.
"Sure. Ill tell Grandpa tomorrow the project is yours."
"Oh, but I remind you. Profits and losses theyre on you."
Lucas instantly agreed, overjoyed.
Seeing him rise, I hurried back to my room, climbed into bed, and pretended to sleep.
I woke again near noon.
Walking downstairs in my night gown, I spotted Lucas at the dining table.
Sensing me, Lucas turned, frowning,
"Why are you only just getting up?"
I adjusted my expression and descended gracefully, taking a seat beside him.
I gave him a reproachful look.
"Whose fault is that? You were so wild last night. I could barely keep up!"
Lucass breath hitched. The knife in his hand scraped harshly across his plate.
"Whats wrong?" I asked, feigning confusion.
His gaze zeroed in on the red marks scattered across my collarbone and chest.
I blushed, pretending shyness, but I didnt stop praising,
"Lucas, you were incredible last night! Ive never felt so satisfied before!"
Alexanders breath caught audibly. He clenched his fist, his voice icy.
"Never before?"
I covered my mouth, pretending dismay, then winked playfully.
"Did I say the wrong thing? Oh no! Youve always been amazing!"
Lucas froze, his face instantly darkening.
I ignored it, gazing at him adoringly.
"But last night you were especially incredible."
Lucas stared at me, expression vacant, as if stunned.
I stood up, wrapping my arms around his neck from behind, pressing my lips close to his ear, my voice thick with feigned shyness.
"But really, you should learn some restraint."
"The shower was one thing but the windowsill? What if someone saw? How mortifying!"
Lucass jaw tightened.
After a long moment, he pulled my hands away and pushed me back into my chair.
"Just eat."
I obediently picked up my fork.
He took several deep breaths, then slammed his cutlery down. The chair screeched as he stood.
"I have business. Im heading out."
I nodded understandingly.
"Go on. Bring me back some strawberry shortcake, okay?"
Lucass hands clenched at his sides. "Fine," he muttered gruffly.
Being at summer break, I didnt have classes.
After lunch, I took my laptop to the sunroom to research some things online. I ordered a few items and closed the computer as evening approached.
Outside, the sunset painted the sky. Inside, flowers bloomed.
Truly, the wealthy knew how to live.
I stretched, genuinely appreciating it.
Then, a tall figure approached. He leaned down and gently removed my glasses.
Startled, I looked up, momentarily unable to tell if it was Lucas or Alexander.
They were strikingly similar.
But after the nights passion, Id noticed subtle differences.
Alexander had a tiny red mole near the corner of his eye, barely visible.
And a faded scar marred his chest, an old wound.
"Want some?" The man waved a small cake box.
I snapped to attention, rushing over to hug his arm and kiss his cheek.
"Thank you, Lucas!"
I opened the box, scooped some strawberry frosting with my finger, and offered it to his lips.
"Try it! Its delicious!"
His eyes darkened. He swallowed hard, then opened his mouth, enveloping my entire fingertip.
"What the hell are you doing?!"
A furious shout came from the sunroom entrance.
The real Lucas was back!
My finger was still caught in the warmth of Alexanders mouth.
I yanked it back, turning towards Lucas.
He strode forward, grabbed my arm, and shoved me behind him.
"Alex! Amelia is my girlfriend!"
I saw the matching strawberry cake box in Lucass own hand, tugging his sleeve quickly.
"Lucas, Im sorry! I mistook him for you! I thought"
My eyes flickered towards the open cake box.
I trailed off, looking down, playing the part of the remorseful girlfriend.
"Dont blame Amelia. She merely offered me some frosting," Alexander stated coolly.
Lucas pressed his lips together, his expression softening slightly.
"Alright. My mistake."
Once Alexander left, Lucas immediately tossed his brothers cake into the trash.
He pinned me against the wall.
"Dont ever take anything Alex gives you again. It makes me jealous."
What a joke, I thought coldly. Hes the one who orchestrated me sleeping with his brother.
Who was he putting on this possessive act for?
And hadnt he been with Chloe last night?
Where did this absurd possessiveness come from?
Outwardly, I played meek. "Okay"
He studied me for a moment, perhaps finding my submission endearing, and leaned in to kiss me.
I instinctively clenched my fists.
Since learning his true nature, every touch revolted me.
Gag.
I couldnt suppress the physical reaction. Covering my mouth, I dashed to the nearby powder room.
I expected Lucas to be furious.
Instead, he was oddly cheerful when I returned, gently guiding me to sit and asking if I felt unwell elsewhere.
I saw the calculating gleam in his eyes.
"No probably just my period" I mumbled a lie.
Lucas caught himself, looking disappointed.
"Isnt your period around the 7th?"
I pretended innocence, nodding.
"Mm-hmm. Why? No way I get pregnant."
"Im warning you, Lucas. Im still in college. No kids"
He captured my hand, massaging my palm.
"I know. But if theres an accident, keeping it would be best."
He was always forceful.
Just like when he pursued me. I hadnt wanted to date him, but his men cornered me on the campus roof, threatening to throw me off if I refused.
I knew they meant it. The Hart family practically owned the university. My death would be ruled a suicide, my parents paid off.
It would be just pennies to him.
But my life would be over.
I nestled against his chest, pressing,
"Then if I got pregnant would you marry me?"
Lucas hesitated, then vowed,
"Yes. Of course. Youll be my wife."
Sure enough, he would marry me, then consumed by his own twisted shame, venting all his fury and resentment on me.
But this life, he wouldnt get his way!
Lucas seemed desperate to prove something.
That night, he cornered me in bed right after my shower.
His breath was heavy, his tone urgent.
"Amelia lets try again. Compare me tonight to last night."
My heart seized.
This felt dangerous.
He rose and started stripping, exposing his body too quickly.
My throat tightened.
Thank god, he was undoing his belt when a knock sounded.
"Lucas! Why is your phone in the study? Grandpas calling. Now!"
Alexanders voice, steady, came through the door.
