Reborn Sister, Swapping Flash Drives for Revenge
Right before graduation, my brother deleted my final thesis from my flash drive just to install a video game.
My mom brushed it off like it was nothing. She said, It is no big deal, just do it over again.
Later, my brother was expelled because he was caught harassing girls at school.
My dad was full of excuses. He said, "Girls are just too sensitive, it was not that big of a deal."
Then, my brother started a fire while playing with matches at home. I was trapped in my bedroom and suffocated to death.
When I opened my eyes again, I had returned to two days before he deleted my thesis.
I swapped my flash drive with the ones my parents used for their jobs.
Later, they were the ones who completely lost their minds.
I was reborn. It was exactly two days before my brother was supposed to delete my graduation project.
Right now, my brother, Milo, was holding a set of permanent markers. He was busy ruining my most expensive designer dress.
I treated that dress like a priceless treasure. Now, Milo was scribbling all over it with black and red ink.
Anger flared up in my chest instantly. I could not believe my eyes.
I snatched the dress away from him. I yelled, "Milo, are you crazy? Who gave you permission to draw on my clothes?"
Milo was startled for a second because I looked so angry.
But he quickly wiped that look off his face and started grinning. "Mom signed me up for an art class. I was just practicing. Why are you so mad?"
I looked at his face and saw zero regret. In fact, he looked quite proud of himself.
I went to find my mom. She just glanced at me and looked completely indifferent.
"Your brother is just a young boy," she said. "Boys are supposed to be a little mischievous. If he were quiet and boring, that would be a real problem."
She did not think he had done anything wrong at all.
Just then, my dad walked past us. He walked straight up to me with a dark expression and started shouting.
"Lydia, you are the older sister! Don't you know you are supposed to give in to your brother? If you can't handle that, then get out of this house!"
Milo saw that our parents were backing him up. He was not scared of me at all.
He even made a smug face at me when they weren't looking.
I did not say another word. I just looked at my family coldly and went back to my room.
I had already given up on them. In my past life, I lost everything because of them.
Milo had taken my flash drive and deleted my entire thesis just to make room for his games. He even complained that my drive was too small.
Because of that, I could not graduate on time. I did not get my diploma and could not find a job.
I was stuck at home. That was when Milo set the living room curtains on fire while playing with fireworks.
The fire spread so fast. My parents grabbed Milo and ran out, but I was trapped.
I could not push my bedroom door open. I died in that room, choking on the thick smoke.
They knew I was in there. My life just did not matter to them at all.
Back in the present, I let out a cold smile. This time, I will make sure you experience everything I went through.
I want to see what kind of end you all have.
The next day, I stayed in my room to work on my thesis. Milo knew I was trying to study.
He intentionally grabbed a microphone in the living room and started screaming at the top of his lungs. He turned the house into a loud karaoke bar.
I had no choice but to use earplugs. I was still a student and had to live here for now.
But as soon as I signed a contract with a company, I was going to run away from this place.
In my last life, there was a sweet little girl in Milo's class. She ended up dropping out because of him.
During gym class, Milo pulled up her skirt in front of everyone. He led a group of boys to laugh and point at her.
The girl's parents came to the school and demanded an explanation from my dad.
My dad just shrugged. He said, "He just lifted a skirt. It's not like your kid lost a limb. What is the big deal?"
He even added, "How about I make my son wear a skirt tomorrow so your daughter can lift it back? Would that make us even?"
The girl's parents were shaking with rage. But they could not do anything against a shameless man like my dad.
In the end, they had to transfer their daughter to a different school.
Thinking about this made me even more determined. I had to get out as soon as my thesis was done.
But before I could leave, something happened.
The next morning, I woke up and found my sealed file envelope had been ripped open. My heart dropped.
Those were my official graduation documents. Every single paper inside was vital for my degree.
I ran into the living room and grabbed Milo by his collar. "Milo, did you touch my files?"
He saw my face and looked scared for a split second.
But then he put on an innocent act. "Lydia, don't blame me! I didn't do anything!"
I saw the corner of his mouth twitch into a smirk. I knew right then that he was lying.
I did not want to waste time arguing. Even if I talked until I was blue in the face, he would not tell me the truth.
I had to find those papers. I searched the entire living room but found nothing.
Did he throw them out with the trash? My heart started racing.
The trash truck comes every morning. If he threw them out, they were probably gone forever by now.
Finding my documents felt impossible. What was I going to do?
Just as I was about to panic, I noticed some paper airplanes on the coffee table.
A thought struck me. I walked toward them while keeping an eye on Milo.
When he saw me going for the paper airplanes, a flash of panic crossed his eyes.
I knew it. Those were my files.
I rushed over and grabbed the paper airplanes. I unfolded them carefully.
Thank God, the papers were not ruined. I let out a long breath of relief.
Then I glared at Milo. "If you ever rip my papers again, I will rip you apart!"
Milo flinched at the look in my eyes. Just then, my parents walked through the door.
Milo immediately burst into tears. He hugged my mom's leg and started crying about how mean I was.
Before I could even explain, my mom snapped at me. "Lydia! It is just a few pieces of paper! Do you have to scare your brother like that?"
I wanted to tell her what he did. But looking at her face, I realized it was useless.
I watched them fuss over Milo. I felt like a stranger in my own home.
But that was fine. Earlier, I had left my flash drive on the sofa.
I had quietly swapped it with my dad's and my mom's drives.
My dad's drive had the source code for a major project. My mom's had the designs for a huge clothing order.
I could not wait to see my idiot brother ruin their lives instead of mine.
The next day at lunch, I found a pile of chili powder in my bowl.
Milo was sitting across from me, making faces. I knew he did it because I have a severe allergy to peppers.
I put my chopsticks down. I told them I was going to order takeout instead.
My mom looked at me with annoyance. "I worked so hard on this food, and you're not eating? You are getting more spoiled every day!"
I pushed the bowl toward her. "It's covered in chili powder. You know I'm allergic. How am I supposed to eat this?"
She went quiet for a moment and looked at Milo. He didn't say a word.
Then she turned back to me and yelled, "Don't you use that tone with me! I should slap the attitude right out of you!"
I looked at her and felt nothing but pity. What kind of mother was she?
Milo saw that he wasn't in trouble. He started laughing at me behind her back.
He thought he was untouchable. Well, I wasn't the same girl from my past life.
I smiled, picked up the bowl, and dumped the whole thing on Milo's face.
My parents were stunned. A second later, Milo started screaming like a stuck pig.
My mom rushed to hold her precious son. My dad's face turned purple with rage.
I didn't wait for the blow. I turned around and bolted out the door to go treat myself to a nice dinner.
Milo deserved it. He asked for it.
I stayed out until I was sure my parents were asleep. When I got back, I went straight to my room.
I noticed my vanity had been messed with. My expensive skin cream was gone.
The bottle was completely empty. My favorite lipstick was snapped in half.
I had worked extra shifts at a diner all summer to save up for those. I hadn't even used them yet.
I checked the hidden camera I had set up. It was Milo.
The footage showed him sneaking into my room. He looked like a little demon.
He poured my cream all over the house plants. Then he stomped on my lipstick and laughed.
My blood boiled. I went to tell my mom about it.
She just gave me a bored look. "It is just makeup. Just stop wearing it if you're so upset."
I smiled. After she left the house, I went into the bathroom.
I grabbed all of my mom's expensive cosmetics and dumped them in Milo's lap.
I pretended to be furious. "Milo, I know you broke my stuff! You think you're so tough because Mom protects you?"
"Go ahead and break hers too! I bet you won't do it! Mom would actually kill you!"
Milo laughed in my face. "Kill me? You're crazy, Lydia!"
Then, right in front of me, he started smashing her designer perfumes and palettes.
He smirked at me. "Just wait. Mom won't even be mad at me. She doesn't care about your stuff, and she loves me too much to care about hers."
I watched him with a hidden smile. You little fool. Just wait until she sees the bill.
