After being reborn, the cool school beauty wants to marry me

After being reborn, the cool school beauty wants to marry me

I was happily heading back to my dorm, arms loaded with my Thursday night takeout haul.

Suddenly, Ethan Harris, the aloof campus hottie, blocked my path, his eyes bloodshot.

Thank God, there's still time. We're not divorced yet...

This time, let's start over!

I scratched my head, confused.

Dude, I don't even know you.

Ethan Harris.

The guy who looked like hed stepped straight out of a comic book.

The prince charming of every girl's dreams.

Including my best friend, Olivia Miller.

She was convinced Ethan was destined to inherit his family's fortune and rule the business world, and she was determined to snag him and live the high life.

But Ethan was naturally reserved, giving everyone the cold shoulder.

One day, Olivia got hit by a car.

When she woke up, she smacked me on the head, gritting her teeth.

"You idiot, don't you dare even think about Ethan Harris! Don't you dare marry him!"

I stared at her, dumbfounded.

Why hit me? If you want to curse, curse yourself.

Besides, it's not like I could just marry Ethan Harris if I wanted to.

The Harris family was the richest in town, heirs to a massive business empire.

They were bound to arrange a marriage for him, and a nobody like me wouldn't even be on their radar.

Before I could process anything, my roommate, Sarah Lee, touched Olivia's forehead.

"Are you delirious?"

"She's still single!"

Olivia suddenly burst out laughing.

"That's wonderful!"

She laughed so hard tears welled up in her eyes.

Ignoring her pain, she rushed over and hugged me tightly.

"It's so good, so good, my Chloe is still single!"

"This time, I won't let you marry that jerk!"

Olivia shooed everyone else out of the room.

Taking a deep breath, she slowly revealed the truth.

She said she was reborn.

In her past life

I tripped at a school dance and fell right into Ethan's arms.

He was wearing a sharp suit, looking ridiculously handsome.

Instinctively, he reached out to catch me, and we spun around.

Then we both fell, me on top of him.

Ethan wasn't smitten.

Neither was I.

But the school went wild, and rumors of our relationship spread like wildfire.

Ethan didn't deny them; he just let everyone assume we were a couple.

Just like that, he introduced me to his family.

They didn't seem to care about my background. They saw my decent grades, outgoing personality, and okay looks, and immediately started pushing for marriage.

And so, I became a wealthy housewife.

But the good times didn't last. Five years later

Ethan handed me divorce papers.

He said he'd never had feelings for me.

Hearing this, I nodded. "Sounds about right."

Ethan and I were definitely not meant to be.

Suddenly, I asked,

"Did we have kids?"

Olivia was silent for a moment.

"Yes, a boy and a girl."

"They both went to the Harris family."

I was so shocked my burger slipped from my hand and landed on the bedsheet.

The pristine white fabric was instantly stained with ketchup.

Olivia, instead of getting angry, hugged my head sympathetically.

"Those little brats, best not to mention them."

In the end

Under Olivia's watchful eye, I solemnly vowed D this lifetime

Even if I ended up an old maid, I wouldn't marry Ethan Harris.

Not even if my life depended on it. And definitely no kids with him.

...

For the next few months

Olivia kept me by her side like a shadow.

Avoiding any place we might run into Ethan.

Honestly, she was overthinking it.

Ethan and I were from different worlds.

Ethan Harris, heir to a business empire, campus celebrity.

And me.

Average girl, plain looking, more interested in food than anything else.

I'd seen him at school events before.

He was always surrounded by girls, never noticing me in the corner.

Besides

After five years, even Ethan admitted he didn't like me.

So what if we bumped into each other?

Olivia said meaningfully, "You're young, you don't understand these things."

"He clearly didn't like you, but he was entangled with you for five whole years."

At this point, she snorted, her dislike for Ethan intensifying.

"If he's also been reborn, he might try to entangle you again!"

Rebirth wasn't something you could just wish for.

Back then, I didn't take it seriously at all.

We ran into some rich girls who used to look down on us.

Olivia, acting strangely, greeted and chatted with them.

After they left, Olivia sighed.

"Life is like a dream. They have their own struggles too."

But when she heard that Ethan's childhood sweetheart had also gotten into our school, her face immediately changed.

The girl came from an ordinary family but had a haughty attitude.

After starting school, she'd been clinging to Ethan, and rumors about them were circulating.

Olivia rolled her eyes.

She didn't say much.

I didn't bother asking.

Spring arrived, bright and beautiful.

The campus was vibrant with life.

Days flew by.

In a blink of an eye

It was the day Olivia had been dreading D the school anniversary gala.

Olivia clutched my hand tightly, refusing to let go.

She stared at the time on her phone, calculating the exact moment I collided with Ethan in her past life.

After a while

She let out a long breath.

The danger had passed.

I could finally breathe again.

I went to the restroom, but bumped into someone around the corner.

God-level handsome.

So attractive it was hard to look away.

The moment he saw me, he visibly froze.

As I walked past, he suddenly spoke.

"Chloe."

"Do you hate me so much that you can't even bear to look at me?"

I turned around in confusion, meeting the handsome stranger's gaze.

He frowned.

"Why are you pretending not to know me?"

"You've been deliberately avoiding me, haven't you, trying to escape everything from our past life?"

"But your wishful thinking is wrong."

Hearing these resentful words, it finally dawned on me.

So he was Ethan Harris.

He was as handsome as a movie star.

Olivia was wrong.

It was me who'd taken advantage of him.

Seeing me speechless, Ethan's tone grew colder.

"Do you really have to avoid me like this?"

"Not even willing to say a word?"

His hands clenched into fists, knuckles white, his eyes fixed on me with displeasure.

I really had to pee, dude.

And Olivia told me not to talk to you.

I took off running.

Ethan's voice followed me.

"Chloe, we were husband and wife for five years. Even if I did something wrong, can't we even be friends?"

His tall figure stood there, unexpectedly exuding a sense of grievance.

I couldn't figure him out.

Why did he insist on being friends with me?

Back at the gala, I confessed about running into Ethan.

Olivia crushed her soda can, sneering.

Her hostile gaze cut through the crowd.

Not far away sat a slender figure in a white shirt.

Ethan, obviously.

I kept my head down, munching on snacks, not daring to make a sound.

Halfway through the gala

A girl took the stage.

She performed a beautiful ballet, immediately captivating the audience.

Applause erupted.

It was Ethan's childhood sweetheart, Elaine Yates.

Her graceful movements earned her wave after wave of cheers.

Everyone was saying how beautifully she danced.

Faced with the praise, Elaine smiled gently.

"Ethan used to play the piano while I danced. Those were the best times."

"I miss those days..."

Her voice was clear and unhurried.

The guy in the white shirt paused mid-sip.

Clearly, hed heard her words.

Olivia scoffed. "Such a fake."

A thought suddenly crossed my mind.

Could she be

The reason for my divorce from Ethan?

This suspicion was further confirmed when Ethan stopped Olivia and me.

He said, "Chloe, you didn't bully Elaine, did you?"

"I told you, it has nothing to do with her..."

Before I could finish, Olivia pulled me behind her.

Her acting skills were superb, her expression perfectly crafted.

Her face displayed a mix of emotions: confusion, anger, protectiveness, and a hint of panic.

"How can you accuse her? My best friend doesn't even know that girl, and she doesn't know you! This is very rude!"

Ethan was stunned.

Hed been so anxious that hed forgotten this wasn't his past life.

His eyes scanned my face, but all he saw was my "this guy is crazy" expression.

"Please show some respect!"

With that, Olivia dragged me away.

Ethan instinctively reached out, trying to grab my hand.

I jumped back, hiding behind Olivias other side like a chick hiding behind a hen.

Ethan's face stiffened.

"So I disgust you this much?"

I nodded firmly, without hesitation.

Ethan said with a grim expression,

"Then why didn't you refuse to sleep with me for those five years?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Olivia slapped him hard.

Olivia was trembling with rage.

"How dare you spout such nonsense!"

"Ethan Harris, if you keep slandering my best friend, I'll post on the school forum about you harassing her and see how long your 'aloof campus hottie' reputation lasts!"

Ethan's head snapped to the side.

It was clear Olivia had used all her strength, showing no mercy.

Before he could recover, Olivia had already pulled me away.

After this incident

Ethan seemed to finally believe I wasn't reborn.

He sent an apology gift through someone, saying he was too impulsive and had said things he shouldn't have.

The gift was a limited-edition Cartier bracelet.

As expected of a rich kid.

Ethan was truly generous.

Olivia sneered. "How ridiculous!"

"You bore him two children in your past life, and he never gave you anything."

"He just said, 'You're Mrs. Harris, go buy whatever you want,' and then turned around and bought his childhood sweetheart a mountain of luxury goods!"

"Now he's trying to suck up!"

I sold the bracelet and added a nice chunk of change to my savings.

Now I could afford a trip!

A few days later, Ethan asked to meet me again, saying he wanted to apologize in person.

Naturally, I refused.

Olivia said, "We accepted your gift. A face-to-face apology isn't necessary. Let's just pretend we don't know each other from now on."

But Ethan wasn't giving up.

He probably wanted to confirm whether I was really reborn.

The next time he came looking for me, Olivia blocked him outside the classroom.

Through the door, he said,

"Chloe, I sincerely want to apologize to you. Can I just see you for a moment..."

Olivia raised her voice.

"Ethan, my friend has a boyfriend. It's not convenient for her to see you."

"If you keep pestering her, it'll be bad for her reputation."

Ethan suddenly fell silent.

Afraid he wouldn't believe her, Olivia added,

"Her boyfriend is coming to pick her up soon. You should go."

It was quiet outside for a long time.

Before leaving, Ethan said,

"You don't need to make up excuses. If Chloe doesn't want to see me, she can just say so."

"I owe you. If you ever need anything, just ask."

The "owe" wasn't referring to his recent offensive words.

It was for those five years in the past life.

After that day, Ethan didn't show up again.

Olivia was still worried.

She roped in our roommates and actually started setting me up on dates.

Meanwhile

Rumors of Ethan and Elaine started spreading on the school forum.

They said Elaine had been harassed by some thugs off campus and Ethan happened to be passing by and saved her.

Elaine treated him to dinner as a thank you, and in the following days, they participated in various club activities together, their childhood sweetheart feelings rapidly rekindling.

As for me, I went on several blind dates but didn't click with anyone.

Olivia pressed me on what I didn't like about them.

I couldn't put my finger on it; it was just a lack of spark.

After a few days of contemplation, Olivia contacted a friend from out of state.

This friend had a good buddy named Caleb Green, who would later become a star athlete in national competitions.

Apparently, after my divorce, when I was living alone, he was my neighbor and often looked after me.

Olivia said she was abroad at the time, so she wasn't clear on the specifics of my relationship with Caleb.

"His family isn't wealthy, but if you truly like him, I'll definitely support you."

I gave a noncommittal response.

Jock guys weren't really my thing.

But when he actually appeared before me, I was stunned.

We met at a boba tea shop near campus.

He was 6'1", wearing a tank top.

His exposed arms were muscular, his physique athletic, his whole being radiating masculine energy.

A sunny, handsome face, with a bright, white smile.

Seeing me speechless, Olivia added,

"He's the top athlete at his school!"

Olivia left after that, leaving me awkwardly alone.

The atmosphere suddenly became strange.

After a moment

Caleb pointed at my empty snack bag and spoke.

He stuttered, but his words made my heart race.

"Ch-Chloe, you look so cute when you eat."

It was the first time anyone had complimented me like that.

I blushed and smiled shyly.

"Thanks, I think so too."

I reached for another cookie, but my hand met empty air. Embarrassed, I pulled it back.

I sipped my tea, fiddled with my bracelet, then my bag.

Suddenly, a guy ran past me and snatched my bag.

Before I could react, Caleb shot off like an arrow.

His speed was astonishing, catching up to the thief in seconds.

With a swift takedown move, he subdued the guy amidst the gasps of onlookers.

He retrieved my bag and sprinted back.

"Your bag," he said, slightly out of breath.

I stared at him, my cheeks burning.

He seemedhe seemedsweeter than boba tea.

Time seemed to stand still.

Onlookers stood at a distance, whispering among themselves.

That's when Ethan Harris appeared.
